FAMILY VIEWING
All of The Rising’s classes are conducted in a closed class setting. Please refer to the class descriptions below to see which days are designated as Family Viewing Days.
Because Aerial Arts is considered a high-risk activity, we strive to maintain a focused, distraction-free environment during class. Guests are warmly invited to observe on our scheduled viewing days.
Please note that our aerial studios do not have designated spectator areas. Parents and family members are welcome to wait in our lobby if they prefer to remain in the building during class times.​​

INTRODUCTORY & SEASONAL CLASSES

TEEN AERIAL ABCS
Ages 12 - 17
Saturdays 9:30-10:30am ( no class June 6)

This course is your teens first step in aerial circus training. Beginner Students must complete this course before signing up for our other aerial classes. Students will learn the foundations of aerial hammock, silk, hoop, & trapeze. Develop your aerial knowledge, strength, and skill base with skills such as Mermaid, Man in the Moon, Catchers Lock, Russian Climb and more! Family Viewing on last class of session

ACT CREATION
Theme: The Journey
Ages 12-17
Fridays 6:15-7:15pm
April 10-June 12

Does your teen love performing? Is the stage calling their name? Do they want to learn how to create their own circus act? Join our Act Creation class to showcase your talents! Students create their own act from choosing their apparatus & music, to creating choreography & designing their costume. Instructor gives tools to use in the creation process and provides feedback & guidance. Acts must be between 2 - 4 minutes ​The session ends with a performance in front of a live audience at The Rising's studio on Sunday, June 14 This show's theme is "The Journey". Performers can choose one stage of the journey or all 3 stages — dreams, challenges, triumph/overcoming — as the foundation for their act. Using circus arts as a storytelling tool, participants will develop both their technical skills and their ability to express emotion and meaning through performance. ​*Dress Rehearsal will be held during the last class of the session. You must be able to attend this class to be able to perform in the show Prerequisites: students must have completed at least one session of Novice on the apparatus they will perform on
HOOP & TRAPEZE CLASSES
Novice skills, hangs, spins, transitions and sequences on aerial hoop & trapeze.  Gain strength, flexibility, and coordination to build your skill repertoire.  Explore the apparatus at different heights and enjoy the spinning beauty of the hoop and the dynamism of the trapeze. A routine will be taught at the end of the session. Prerequisites: Aerial ABC's or equivalent​ ​Family Viewing on last class of session. Students will perform an aerial routine for their families
Intermediate skills, spins, transitions, and a strong emphasis on sequencing and working with a spin. Start working on progressive skills and learn new mounts/dismounts onto/off the apparatus. The apparatus will be used at various heights.  Gain more strength, flexibility, and skill knowledge. A routine will be taught at the end of the session ​ Prerequisites: Hoop & Trapeze Novice or equivalent. Single knee hangs 20 sec, 10 chin up feet on ground, straddle inversions, skin the cats, 1 arm hangs 10 sec each arm, comfortable working with spin, minimum 1 year consistent training, pull over on bottom and top bar with proper technique Family Viewing on last class of session. Students will perform an aerial routine for families
SILK & HAMMOCK CLASSES

SILK NOVICE
Ages 12 - 17
Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm

Novice level Students will graduate onto working on stretchy silk, developing the strength needed to invert in the air and work with height. Various climbs, skills from foot locks, hip keys, belays, X back and other orientations will be taught. Entry level drops may be introduced if student is ready. Prerequisites: Â Aerial ABC's or equivalent Family Viewing on last class of session. Students will perform an aerial silk routine
After Aerial ABC's your teen may choose to specialize in aerial Hammock.  This class would be their next step. Students will work on developing the strength needed to invert and work with height & spin. Learn skills such as georgia twist,  gazelle belay, and more! Prerequisites: Aerial ABC's or equivalent Family Viewing on last class of session. Students will perform a hammock routine ​

SILK INTERMEDIATE​

Ages 12 - 17
Tuesdays 7:45-8:45pm

​Intermediate level students work on increased vocabulary & sequences building aerial endurance and strength. Multi-directional drops will be included. Aerial silk requires a strong upper body and core to continue progressing and help remain safe off the ground; conditioning exercises will be incorporated into the class. Learn progressive skills and sequences on silk that require greater strength and flexibility. Prerequisites: minimum 1 year training in Novice. Inversions in air,  same side knee hooks, hip key, knee drop, flexed arm hang 30 sec, climb to top of stretchy silk 2 x in a row without rest, foot locks in air Family Viewing on last class of session. Students will perform an aerial silk routine
Inversion skills, drops, and skills requiring more flexibility and strength will be taught. Aerial hammock requires a strong upper body and core to continue progressing and help remain safe off the ground; conditioning exercises will be incorporated into the class. Family viewing on last class of session. Students will perform an aerial routine to music Prerequisites: minimum 1 year training in Novice, inversion from standing in hammock, pullover mount,  knee drop, flexed arm hang 30 sec
THE RISING SHOW TEAM

The Rising's Student performance team for ages 12 - 17.
For students committed to their circus training and interested in going beyond a recreational level.
The Show Team is a full year commitment July-June
Students train year-round to create a full-length circus show which will be performed at The Rising's Studio to a public audience every June, along with other performance opportunities through out the year.
Students must show a love of performance, strong training ethic in class, and meet the strength & flexibility requirements
​*Admission to the Show Team is by audition held every Spring Session
