FAMILY VIEWING
All of The Rising’s classes are conducted in a closed class setting. Please refer to the class descriptions below to see which days are designated as Family Viewing Days.
Because Aerial Arts is considered a high-risk activity, we strive to maintain a focused, distraction-free environment during class. Guests are warmly invited to observe on our scheduled viewing days.
Please note that our aerial studios do not have designated spectator areas. Parents and family members are welcome to wait in our lobby if they prefer to remain in the building during class times.

INTRODUCTORY & SEASONAL CLASSES

Aerial ABC's

This course is your teens first step in aerial circus training.
Beginner Students must complete this course before signing up for our other aerial classes.
Students will learn the foundations of aerial hammock, silk, hoop, & trapeze.
Develop your aerial knowledge, strength, and skill base with skills such as Mermaid, Man in the Moon, Catchers Lock, Russian Climb and more!

Conditioning
Thursdays 6:45-7:30pm ( no class Oct 15)

Age 14+
45-minute conditioning class designed to improve your performance in the air through focused floor-based excercises.
Using a variety of tools—including resistance bands, exercise balls, light weights, and bodyweight exercises—develop strength, stability, and endurance. The exercises will help support joint health, improve movement patterns, and reduce the risk of injury.
Prerequisites: none. Overall good health

Act Creation
Monday 5:15-6:15pm ( No class Oct 12)

Students will create and perform their own circus act inspired by the world of mythical creatures. From dragons and phoenixes to mermaids, unicorns, fairies, or creatures of their own imagination, they'll bring their ideas to life through movement and circus arts.
Students will choose their apparatus and music, create original choreography, develop a character, and design a costume, while receiving guidance, creative tools, and individualized feedback from the instructor throughout the process.
Using circus arts as a storytelling tool, participants will strengthen both their technical skills and their ability to express emotion, character, and meaning through performance.
Perform in a live show open to the public at The Rising on Sunday, November 22.
Please Note: Dress rehearsal during the final class of the session ( Nov 16). Attendance at dress rehearsal is mandatory to perform in the show.
Prerequisites: novice level or higher in the apparatus they want to perform on

Flexibility
Thursdays 7:45-8:45PM

Age 14+
Build strength, mobility, and flexibility in a fun and supportive environment! Through stretching and movement, students will improve both active and passive flexibility, helping them move with greater confidence while supporting injury prevention.
Whether you're naturally bendy or just getting started, this class will meet you where you are and help you become stronger, more flexible, and more confident—one stretch at a time!
Please note: Flexibility improves through consistency and regular practice. We'll give you the tools and exercises to continue your progress at home.
Prerequisites: None.
AERIAL CLASSES Age 12-17

Hoop & Trapeze Novice & Intermediate
Monday 4:00-5:00pm
Sept 14-Dec 7 ( no class Oct 12)

Mixed levels class. Novice-Intermediate skills, hangs, spins, transitions and sequences on aerial hoop & trapeze. Gain strength, flexibility, and coordination to build your skill repertoire. Explore the apparatus at different heights and enjoy the spinning beauty of the hoop and the dynamism of the trapeze. A routine will be taught at the end of the session.
Prerequisites: Aerial ABC's or equivalent
Family Viewing on last class of session. Students will perform an aerial routine for their families

Silk Novice
Thursdays 5:15-6:15pm
Sept 17-Dec 10

Novice level Students will graduate onto working on stretchy silk, developing the strength needed to invert in the air and work with height. Various climbs, skills from foot locks, hip keys, belays, X back and other orientations will be taught. Entry level drops may be introduced if student is ready.
Prerequisites: Aerial ABC's or equivalent
Family Viewing on last class of session. Students will perform an aerial silk routine

Hammock Novice
Thursday 6:30-7:30pm
Sept 17-Dec 10

After Aerial ABC's your teen may choose to specialize in aerial Hammock. This class would be their next step. Students will work on developing the strength needed to invert and work with height & spin. Learn skills such as georgia twist, gazelle belay, and more!
Prerequisites:
Aerial ABC's or equivalent
Family Viewing on last class of session. Students will perform a hammock routine

Silk Intermediate
Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm
Sept 15-Dec 8
$324 +gst
Intermediate level students work on increased vocabulary & sequences building aerial endurance and strength. Multi-directional drops will be included. Aerial silk requires a strong upper body and core to continue progressing and help remain safe off the ground; conditioning exercises will be incorporated into the class. Learn progressive skills and sequences on silk that require greater strength and flexibility.
Prerequisites:
minimum 1 year training in Novice. Inversions in air, same side knee hooks, hip key, knee drop, flexed arm hang 30 sec, climb to top of stretchy silk 2 x in a row without rest, foot locks in air
Family Viewing on last class of session. Students will perform an aerial silk routine

Hammock Intermediate
Wednesday 6:30-7:30pm
Sept 16-Dec 9 (no class Nov 11)

Inversion skills, drops, and skills requiring more flexibility and strength will be taught. Aerial hammock requires a strong upper body and core to continue progressing and help remain safe off the ground; conditioning exercises will be incorporated into the class.
Family viewing on last class of session. Students will perform an aerial routine to music

minimum 1 year training in Novice, inversion from standing in hammock, pullover mount, knee drop, flexed arm hang 30 sec, comfortable with spin

Rising Circus Showteam
Wednesday 6:30-8:30pm
& Fridays 4:00-6:30pm

Take your circus training to the next level! The Rising Circus Showteam is our year-round performance troupe for dedicated intermediate and advanced students who are passionate about circus, love performing, and thrive as part of a team.
Students train throughout the year to create and perform a full-length live circus production for the public each June, while also participating in additional performance opportunities throughout the season. Students will study all 4 main aerial apparatus, as well as ground circus skills such as acro, juggling, stiltwalking, dance, and other modalities. Showteam members are expected to demonstrate a strong work ethic, commitment to training, excellent collaboration skills, and meet the required strength and flexibility standards.
Commitment: July–June (full-year program)
Admission: By audition each Spring Session.
