TEEN CIRCUS  AGES 13-17

WINTER SESSION 2021 INFORMATION

No classes Feb 15 ( Family Day)

  • If new to circus or aerial training, student MUST complete a Teen Aerial ABC'S session prior to starting the leveled classes 

  • If unsure of level/class, please call the office at 250-857-1785 and we will help find the best class for your teen

  • Pre-requisites for leveled classes listed below  

  • Students can stay in same level for multiple sessions and work at their own pace

  • Teens age 14+ can reserve a spot in our Open Training Drop In to supplement their circus training

  • Consistent attendance is important to gain the strength, flexibility, and aerial knowledge 

  • Teen must be able to complete all vocabulary in the class to move onto the next level.  Instructor will recommend level to student 

  • All classes are pro-rated for late registration

  • The Rising is unable to hold spots without payment.  Please remember to complete the checkout process after enrolling online

  • Please familiarize yourself with our SCHOOL & COVID POLICIES

  • Register for 2 or more aerial classes and receive 10-15% off automatically when you check out! ( excludes open training, workshops, flexibility, Show Team, Handstands, Tumbling)

  •  All students must sign our new waiver online and print, sign and bring to first class the Safety First Partnership Agreement Form available for download on our Covid-19 Policies page 

Teen Aerial ABC's

Thursdays 4:00 - 5:00pm

Jan 14 - Mar 11

9 weeks

This course is your teens first step in aerial training.

Students must complete this course before signing up for other aerial classes. 

Students will learn the foundations of Aerial Hammock, Silk, Hoop and Trapeze.

 Develop their aerial knowledge, strength, and skill base.

Prerequisites: none.  Overall good health.  Students who have previous training at a different facility in silk/hoop/trapeze and have studied the fundamentals can sign up for our beg/int classes

Cost: $216 + tax

Teen Aerial Silk & Hammock

Mondays 4:00 - 5:00pm 

Jan 11 - Mar 8

8 weeks

Family Day 

Beginner & Intermediate

Multi-level class focusing on silk and hammock with climbs, wraps, and fabric theory.                                                  

Build your strength and start working with more height

5 classes on Silk, 3 classes on Hammock

Short Silk Sequences introduced in Beginner

3 min+ Silk Sequences and drops learned in Intermediate 

Pre-requisites

Beginner: Aerial ABC's or equivalent

Intermediate: at coaches discretion, 3 climbs to top without rest, double footlocks in air, clean inversions in air, 3 chin ups, 3 leg lifts, knee drop, Monkey drop, Same/opposite Side knee hook, 3 skin the cats

COST: $192 + tax

Teen Aerial Hoop

Mondays 5:15 - 6:15pm

Jan 11 - Mar 8

Building on foundational knowledge this mixed levels class takes your aerial hoop training to the next level with various poses, hangs, spins and sequences. 

Students work on aerial strength, vocabulary,  transitions, and sequence building

 

Pre-requisites

Beginner: Aerial ABC's or equivalent 

Intermediate: at coaches discretion, single knee hang 45 sec each leg, 3 chin ups, 3 leg lifts, 3 skin the cats, comfortable working with fast spin and at 3 areas of hoop ( below, inside, on top )

COST: $192 + tax

Teen Mixed Aerials

Saturdays 12:00 - 1:00pm

Join our Mixed Aerials class and continue your training on aerial silk, hoop, and trapeze!

Teen Hula Hooping

Fridays 3:00 - 3:45pm

Join Hula Hoop Artist and Coach Kylie for a class that's 100% fun!

Hula Hooping improves coordination, dexterity, rhythm and even strength!

Experience the excitement of Circus Style Hula Hooping through learning fun tricks on and off the body or tricks in and out of the hoop!

Students can bring their own hula hoop or use one of the school's

Prerequisites: none

Cost: $144 +tax

Open Training Drop In - age 14+

Sundays 10:30am - 12noon

Jan 17 - Mar 11

Missed a class and want to make it up?  Want more training time to see faster progress or to reach your aerial goals?

Reserve your spot online in Open Training Drop in.  Let supervising coach know if you are making up a missed class or coming in for extra training when you arrive.  Coach will document and then charge will be put through on your account

Open Training is self-guided.  Coach provides supervision only.  

Cost: $12 drop in +tax

**No charge if making up a missed class in Fall Session

Prerequisites: Aerial ABC's, must be a current or former student of The Rising

Rising Circus Show Team

Thursdays 5:15 - 6:45pm

9 weeks

+ 1 additional Teen Aerial class of their choosing (minimum)

*Optional Hand Balance Add-On:  Thursdays 6:45-7:30pm

The Rising's Student performance team.  For students committed to their circus training and interested in going beyond a recreational level.  The Show Team works year-round to create a full-length circus show which will be performed at The Rising's Studio to a public audience.  Students must show a love of performance/showmanship, strong training ethic in class, and meet the strength & flexibility requirements

**Optional Add-On: Handbalance with Emrah ( graduate of National Circus School's Coaching Program and professional Handblance Artist ) 45 min class working on foundations of Handbalance which is beneficial cross-training for aerialists.

Admission to the Show Team is by invitation only.

 

Prerequisites: full splits in 1 direction minimum, backbend with straight arms/legs hold for 30 sec, cartwheel, fwd and bwd roll, back or front walkover, climb to top of tall silks 3 x's in a row, clean inversions in air, skin the cat x 5, 3 full chin ups, 3 full leg lifts, hip key, thigh hitch, single knee hang 30 sec, clean foot locks in air

COST: $444 - $468 (varies depending on 2nd class chosen)

Hand Balance Add-On: $65 + tax
