FAMILY CIRCUS

Have double the flying fun and learn together with a class that is sure to bring you closer and get you stronger! This is a 4 class session that will introduce you and your child to the wonderful world of circus. Each class will focus on one of the most popular aerial apparatuses: aerial silk, aerial hoop, aerial hammock and static trapeze. You will learn solo and duo tricks on each apparatus,  so bring your cameras as this is one experience you won't want to forget! **class listed on the SPRING CLASSES 2024 calendar Prerequisites: None or Beginner Experience. Child's Age must be between 6-12 yrs.  Due to our limited number of aerial points Max 2 students per family registration.  MUST consist of 1 adult & 1 youth - please note we do not have a viewing area in the circus studios.  Only those registered to participate in the course allowed in the studio.  Additional family members will enjoy watching at home the photos/video you capture during class!

Do you love to perform and create? Is the stage calling your name?Want to learn how to create your own circus act? Showcase your talents and join our Act Creation class! Students create their own act from choosing their apparatus & music, to creating  choreography & designing their costume. Instructor gives tools to use in the creation process and provides feedback & guidance. Acts must be between 2 - 4 minutes The session ends with a Performance in front of a live audience at The Rising's studio. This session's theme is "Circus Through the Ages". Adults can create acts inspired by either: the 20's & 30's 90's & 2000's

This course is your first step in aerial circus training. You will learn the foundations such as how to mount and dismount, proper hanging alignment, basic skills while sitting / standing / hanging / inverting. 2-3 classes each on Silk, Hoop, Hammock, and Trapeze Once you complete the course you can then move into our Basics level classes and specialize on the apparatus of your choosing.

AERIAL YOGA

Aerial yoga combines the movements of aerials with traditional yoga postures. The hammock is kept close to the ground and becomes a swing in which to support and stretch the body in mid-air. Some postures will become more accessible with the assistance of the hammock while others will become more challenging. This class is an excellent place to begin any aerial journey. Aerial yoga has particular benefits in strengthening and stretching the body, decompressing the spine, and lifting one's mood. Join today to elevate your yoga practice!

HOOP BASICS/NOVICE

BASICS: So you've decided to specialize on aerial hoop and want to solidify your foundational skills! This class will cover all you need to know from mounts and dismounts, hangs, inverting, poses, and building your spin tolerance. Prerequisites: Adult Aerial ABC's NOVICE:  Take your aerial hoop a step further in our Novice class now that you've got a solid foundation.  Work below, inside and on top of the hoop as you finesse your transitions. Prerequisites:  Aerial Hoop Basics or equivalent.  Solid grasp of basics.  Able to mount/dismount hoop with ease. Knee Hang 20 sec.  Able to work on all levels of hoop- under hoop,  inside hoop, on top of hoop.  Flexed arm hang 15 sec, able to hold your inversion * this is a mixed levels class

Intermediate skills, spins, transitions, and a strong emphasis on sequencing and working with a spin.  Hoop will be used at various heights.  Gain more strength, flexibility, and skill knowledge​​. Routine will be taught at end of session Prerequisites:  single knee hangs 20 sec, 10 chin up feet on ground, 10 tuck leg lifts, 5 skin the cats, 1 arm hangs 10 sec each arm, comfortable working with spin, minimum 1 year consistent training, pull over on bottom and top bar with proper technique If uncertain about level talk to your coach or inquire at office

Advanced hangs, spins, transitions, release skills and a strong emphasis on sequencing and working with a spin.  Hoop will be used at various heights. Routine will be taught at end of session. Advanced Aerial Hoop requires a strong upper body and core, plus good flexibility to continue progressing and help remain safe off the ground.  We strongly encourage our students to make use of Open Training Drop In to do muscle conditioning, stretch and review skills learned in class. Prerequisites:  Intermediate Hoop or equivalent, minimum 2 years consistent training, 1 arm hang 15 sec, 30 second single knee hang, 2 full chin ups, 1 full leg lift, 5 skin the cats, comfortable with fast spin and release skills

BASICS: Aerial Hammock ( sometimes called Aerial Sling) is an apparatus similar to aerial silk but is rigged to create a loop in the bottom giving you a shelf to sit or stand on.  This course will solidify your foundational knowledge of the apparatus to give you the skills to attempt higher level skills with inversions or a drop or more complicated wraps.   *This is a split level class with Novice. NOVICE: Taking your basic Hammock skills up a notch explore skills, hangs, spins, and sequences plus the introduction of simple drops or saltos.  Gain strength, flexibility, and coordination to build your skill repertoire. Prerequisites:  Aerial ABC's or equivalent

The trapeze is an iconic circus apparatus and in this class it is rigged from a single point allowing for spin.   The class will focus on Basic and Novice level skills under the bar and in the ropes, combinations and strength & conditioning exercises.  Prerequisites: Trapeze or Aerial Hoop ABC's or equivalent, must be able to invert

The class will focus on Intermediate level skills, combinations, spinning, introduce balancing on the bar, and strength & conditioning exercises. Increase your knowledge of skills in the ropes. Prerequisites:  single knee hangs 20 sec, 10 chin up feet on ground, 10 tuck leg lifts, 5 skin the cats, 1 arm hangs 10 sec each arm, comfortable working with spin, minimum 1 year consistent training, pull over on bottom and top bar with proper technique, ability to invert.

Aerial silk requires a strong upper body and core to continue progressing and help remain safe off the ground.  We strongly encourage our students to make use of Open Training Drop In  to do muscle conditioning, review skills learned in class and stretch.   Prerequisites:  Silk Novice or equivalent, minimum 1 year consistent training, climb 2x's to top without rest, inversion into single knee hook with good form, cross back straddle, 30 sec flexed arm hang, hip key  & thigh hitch in air with proper technique , knee drop,  monkey drop, salto drop ( all with good form)

This level will build your aerial strength on stretchy silk to be able to climb to the top in various ways , invert in the air, and make your footlocks off the ground.  You'll also learn fun poses and sequences and some beginner drops once you're ready. Prerequisites:  Silk Basics or equivalent.  Solid grasp of how to climb and make your footlocks in the air, classic/russian climb to the top of stretchy silk, flexed arm hang 20 seconds, ability to properly invert in the air and hold position, russian hip key, knee drop, same side knee hook

SILK ADVANCED

Advanced silk class working with full height of 20 ft on stretchy silk.  Students work on increased vocabulary, drops with slack/rolls/twists/releases, longer sequences  Aerial silk requires a strong upper body and core, plus good flexibility to continue progressing and help remain safe off the ground.  We strongly encourage our students to make use of Open Training Drop In to do muscle conditioning, stretch and review skills learned in class  Prerequisites: Silk Intermediate or equivalent, minimum 2 years consistent training, climb 3x's to top without rest, 45 sec flexed arm hang, full split 1 direction, pike with hands passing feet, bridge with straight arms, able to complete routines 4 min long, straight leg inversions, must be able to demonstrate a solid grasp of at least 5 different drops with good technique, hip key, thigh hitch

Not your typical climbing rope!  This vertical apparatus is covered in a strong cotton sheath and even has a bit of bounce to it.  Learn beginner-advanced level skills, drops, saltos, and gain strength while climbing and wrapping. Prerequisites: must eb able to hold body ewight off the ground and climb the rope. Comfortable working with height. Aerial ABC's or equivalent
